10 Healthy Lunch-Box Snacks for Kids in Pakistan

· FH Premiums

Packing a school lunch box every morning is hard when children want chips and sweets. The trick is snacks that are quick to pack, survive until break time, and actually get eaten. Here are ten ideas that work for Pakistani kids.

1. Dried mango slices

Sweet like a toffee but it is just fruit. Choose dried mango with no added sugar — many brands are candied. Our Dried Mango Slices & Apple Rings are 100% fruit.

2. Apple rings

Chewy, mild and not sticky, so they will not mess up books or the lunch box.

3. A small handful of mild nimko

Salty snacks are fine in small portions. Cheese Nimko has no chilli heat, so it suits younger children. Pack a small portion in a separate box so it stays crisp.

4. Mixed dried fruit and nuts

Mix a spoon of the Mixed Dried Fruit Pack with a few almonds or walnuts for older children. (Check your school’s nut policy.)

5. Anda roll

Half a paratha or roti with scrambled egg, rolled tight and wrapped in foil.

6. Chicken or aloo sandwich

Use leftover chicken or spiced aloo; add a slice of cucumber for crunch.

7. Fruit chaat

Apple, banana and guava with a squeeze of lemon (the lemon stops the apple turning brown). Best for cooler months.

8. Homemade popcorn

Pop at home with a little oil and salt. For older kids, a pinch of peri peri seasoning makes it exciting.

9. Boiled chana with lemon and chaat masala

High in protein and keeps children full until home time.

10. Yoghurt with dried fruit

Chop dried mango into a small tub of yoghurt the night before — it softens and sweetens it naturally. Use an insulated box in summer.

Tips to keep snacks fresh

  • Keep crunchy snacks (nimko, popcorn) separate from wet food.
  • Use small airtight boxes rather than plastic bags.
  • In hot months, add a frozen water bottle as an ice pack.
  • Rotate snacks through the week so children do not get bored.

Dried fruit and nimko keep for months at home, so you are never stuck on a busy morning. Read how to store dried fruit properly. We deliver across Pakistan with cash on delivery.
